It’s been an exciting month here at Black Bear Energy.

Vibes are good and on this good note we’re excited to announce that we will be the official energy drink sponsor of the 5th annual Tailgate Alaska event (Succeeding Red Bull, by the way.. No big deal…)!

Tailgate Alaska is the premier backcountry event in the United States based in the middle of Alaska’s legendary Chugach Range. Skiers and riders access the mountains via helicopter, snowmobile and hiking in the terrain immediately surrounding the base-camp facility. Tailgate Alaska offers a nightly beer garden party, daily snow science classes and other activities to keep people entertained when not riding.

Know what else is cool, you don’t even have to be there to help support the bear. Thats right, you can tag along with us from the comfort (and relative warmth) of your very own living room thanks to the good guys over at Fuel TV who will be broadcasting the event across the country!

If you are going to be there make sure to pop by our tent and grab some product and gear. We are going to be located right near the beer garden, so no matter your state swing by for some great music, and our own custom BEARuit games. Plus, our promise to you: swag on swag on swag on swag. Seriously. We got you covered if you take the trek! Here’s to fresh powder and no avalanches! HURRAH!

Caffeine is perhaps the most common legal stimulant in the world. Present in tea, coffee, and perhaps most relevantly energy drinks, caffeine gives an immediate rush of energy and for many people is the prefered method of waking themselves up. However, when consuming caffeine few people actually think about the hidden danger of caffeine addiction.

When you slug down your morning joe, caffeine immediately starts your brain secreting ACTH (adrenocorticotrophic hormone). This is one of the most potent stress hormones present in our body, and in truth the ‘alert’ feel you get is actually your body entering into a sort of ‘fight or flight’ mode. While this may indeed raise your overall level of alertness, overtime heavy use of caffeine will drain your body’s adrenal glands. Once this happens it becomes impossible to function without caffeine. This in itself leads to what is referred to as ‘caffeine addiction.’ People who suffer from caffeine addiction will feel lethargic, anxious, and on edge without caffeine, largely because their adrenal glands have become dependant on an artificial outside stimulant in order to function.

There is no reason to risk a caffeine addiction, and for youth and those leading active lifestyles a caffeine addiction can lead into some potentially dangerous grounds. Black bEar Energy products DO NOT and will NEVER utilize stimulants such as caffeine. By utilizing a high dose of Vitamin B12 and a unique trace mineral blend, our products do not come with the same inherent and under recognized risks other products on the market carry! Why? Because Black Bear Energy is energy redefined!

Whenever you see B12 supplements the manufacturers are sure to tell you that it is important in helping your body to create energy on a cellular level. While energy is great, what difference can extra vitamin B12 make for an athlete who is training or competing?

There are two main benefits to B12 supplementation that do not get pasted onto the front of every bottle that may be even more important to athletes than the extra energy. For one, studies have shown that B12 deficiency can lead to a decrease in one’s ability to balance and play balance related sports (And lets be honest, what sport does not require balance?).

B12 is also important in helping red blood cells to transfer oxygen from the lungs throughout the body. Obviously, during times of extreme physical exertion making sure your body is able to properly process and utilize oxygen is of utmost importance.

While this post only lightly touches on B12’s benefits for athletes, we will continue to share additional information and facts going forward. In fact, we link to a number of articles and pieces of third party literature on B12’s benefits here for those of you who simply can’t wait!
